Here’s a summary for easy reference:
Parking:
During Thursdays to Saturdays, participants have the option to utilize the paid parking area adjacent to the exhibition pavilion. The parking facility is located at Av. Infante Don Henrique in Aterro do Flamengo
On Sunday access to Marina da Glória will be restricted. We suggest parking at the 2nd War Monument and the Modern Art Museum.
Subway:
The subway is a convenient public transportation option, opening at 7 am. For easy access to Marina da Glória, we recommend heading to Gloria Station, Access B, located just about 650 meters away.
Taxi or Transport App:
In this case, we suggest going to Nossa Senhora da Glória Church. From there, it is a short walk to Marina da Glória (approximately 750 meters).
The race start will be on the most famous beach in Brazil: Copacabana, right next to Copacabana Fort. The transition area 1 will be inside the historic building.
Alternative routes
Avenida Atlântica, the main avenue along Copacabana Beach, will be closed in both directions during the race.
It is recommended to use transport apps or taxis for convenience and comfort, especially during this busy and exciting moment before the race. Some streets can provide access to Swim Start, like Rua Joaquim Nabuco, Av. Raina Elizabeth, and Rua Julio de Castilho.
Parking:
Be aware that public parking spaces are limited in this area, so as the paid parkings nearby, also restricted during the race.
Subway:
The General Osório/Ipanema subway station is approximately 700 meters away from the race start. However, please note that on Sundays and holidays, this station opens at 7 am. With the swim start at 6h30, the subway may not be a viable alternative.
A spectacular point to watch swim start, Transition 1 (swimming to cycling) and the initial sections of the cycling course. It’s a unique opportunity to enjoy the view while experiencing the adrenaline rush of the race’s start.

There are elevated walkways at Av. Beira Mar and Av. Infante Dom Henrique so you can watch the action with a priviledge view.
Location of T2 (cycling-to-running transition) and Finish Line, is the final leg of the race. Get ready to cheer and applaude the athletes!
The first athletes should start transitioning from swimming to cycling from 6:50 a.m. Participants should start to go through the transition from cycling to running aroud 8:40 a.m. The arrival of the first place finishers is expected from 10:30.
We suggest download the IRONMAN TRACKER app adding the Itaú BBA IRONMAN 70.3 Rio de Janeiro event (available on Saturday, 08). There you can follow your favorite athletes by their numbers. You can add more than one, if you want.

Remember that Itaú BBA IRONMAN 70.3 Rio de Janeiro is an outdoor event, so it’s better to be prepare for all kind of weather conditions: wear comfortable clothes, bring a hat and sunglasses, and don`t forget the sunscreen and a water bootle! Rio de Janeiro is known for its high temperatures all over the year.
